Three things decide whether a printed family set works

A print can be put on a garment three ways and they are not interchangeable: as a scatter repeat running edge to edge, as an engineered print set to a fixed position on the panel, or as a patchwork grid where every square is its own placement. Most custom pajamas programmes we run are scatter. The one in the photographs is a grid, and a grid is the one that asks for real work.

• A patchwork grid is a placement problem, not a repeat. A scatter is forgiving — the eye reads the field rather than any one motif, so a few millimetres of drift disappears. A grid is not forgiving. Every square has to sit square to the grain, the button placket has to land on a grid line rather than through the middle of a square, and the side seams should follow the grid instead of cutting across it. Miss that and the garment looks out of true even though nothing is actually crooked.
• The zip runs straight through the grid. The baby piece is a two-way sleepsuit, so the zip divides the front in two — meaning the print has to be matched either side of it or the squares step visibly at the opening. It is a fault a buyer sees at arm's length on the flat-lay and a customer sees in the photograph, so the sleepsuit is where placement gets signed off, not a 4XL adult piece.
• One scale, and the buyer keeps the saving. The print is deliberately not re-graded between the kids' pieces and the adult ones: the newborn sleepsuit and the men's 4XL carry the identical motif at the identical size. That is what makes the family read as one family rather than four outfits — and on the artwork side it leaves a single development, a single print approval and a single screen for the whole programme instead of one per member.

Certification: what we hold, and what gets handed over

Everything a buyer needs to clear this product sits in three documents, and all three can be read before an order is placed. The first is our OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I certificate — the baby class, which is the one that matters when a newborn sleepsuit and an adult 4XL ship on the same invoice — and the certificate number goes on the quote. The second is the flammability testing for the children's sizes: they fall inside US CPSC 16 CFR 1615/1616 "Snug-fit", which is a fit standard rather than a chemical one, so clearing it does not put a flame retardant into the cloth. The third is the CPSIA Children's Product Certificate. If your retailer runs its own checklist, send it across and every line is answered in writing before you commit.

What the cloth has to survive

Tanboocel® bamboo viscose earns its place on three counts and only one of them is softness: it is breathable, it is durable, and it takes dye and print evenly enough to hold a shade right across a size range. On a printed family set the third one is the commercial one — the product is sold on matching, so the figure to hold us to is color fastness, because these pieces get worn and washed together and a set that drifts apart in the wash is a complaint rather than a reorder. On file: Anti-Pilling Grade 3.5+, Shrinkage ≤ 4%, Fastness Grade 4. Digital active dyeing in-house, with vertical integration from fiber to finished garment, is what lets a single dye lot cover a whole size range rather than part of one.

How the checks run

Inspections are taken at four points through production rather than once at the end, and each one comes back as photographs plus production notes — so the programme is watched while it is running instead of reported on after it has finished. The 100% quality check sits immediately before packing, and the baby's YKK zip is cycled as part of it. The last step is laying the sizes out together, because a shade or a placement difference between the newborn sleepsuit and the 4XL is invisible garment by garment and obvious the moment they sit flat side by side. That is how a set gets signed off.

Your print or your dye lot can be carried through the fabric, the packaging and the brand tag, and collar neck tags are made to your design. The artwork is not shown to another buyer, the copyright stays with you, and an NDA is signed before the file is sent. Freight by sea, rail or air — quoted to your port, or landed at your door.

Four related cuts run on the same print system and the same size ladder, so a buyer taking a full year orders one pull-down rather than five. The red tree print is the December cut. The heart print on the long sleeve is the February one. The short sleeve with shorts and a ruffled hem is the warm-season printed set, and the solid-dyed short set is the one you take when the color is the whole product.
